Rhythm game with your own music
Your music. Your notes. Your painting.
Choose a song from your device and turn it into a playable chart. ColoRythm is a browser rhythm game that generates notes from your MP3 and turns successful hits into paint.
How to play with an MP3 file
- Open “upload mp3”. Choose it on the home screen, then select “choose file from my PC”. Pick an audio file saved on your device.
- Use the automatic chart. The game analyzes your audio to build a chart: a sequence of notes to hit. Preparation time depends on the song and your device.
- Set up your game. Start with 4 lanes and easy difficulty. You can adjust the note scroll speed separately.
- Press play. Follow the notes to the hit line. The default 4-key layout is D F J K; you can change it in settings.
Your MP3 is processed on your device. The selected file is not sent to a server to generate its chart. You do not need to install ColoRythm or create an account to play.
Automatic, imported or handmade charts
Automatic charts are a quick way to try your music. Rhythm detection can produce different results depending on the mix and instruments; it is not the same as a manually reviewed chart.
To choose exactly where notes appear, open create → chart editor. You can record by tapping in real time or edit notes individually. You can also import .crchart, .json, .sm or .ssc files with their matching audio. An imported chart defines its own difficulty and lane count.
Other games may use note types that ColoRythm does not reproduce in the same way. When importing StepMania files, holds become taps at their starting points. Review the result before playing.
To try the game immediately, open the song catalog. Available prebuilt charts load directly, avoiding another chart-generation step.
Every successful hit also paints
Play on a blank canvas or load an image to rebuild it with splashes. Colors appear as you hit the notes. After the song, you can keep painting, sign your artwork and export it as an image.
Settings let you choose whether all successful hits or only perfects add paint. To make the notes easier to read, adjust the track opacity and try the Splash, Chromatic pulse or Simple hit animations.
Before choosing your song
Can I paste a Spotify or YouTube link?
This version uses local audio files and songs from the catalog. It does not import music from Spotify, YouTube or Apple Music links. Choose an MP3 you already have and can use.
Why does the first preparation take time?
Your browser needs to read and analyze the audio, then generate its chart. Longer tracks or less powerful devices may need more time. Loading a prebuilt catalog chart skips generation, but the audio still has to load.
What if the chart is too difficult?
Try a lower difficulty with 4 lanes. Adjust the scroll speed if reading the notes is difficult. To keep the song and fine-tune its notes, use the chart editor.
Is it free, with no app download?
Yes. ColoRythm runs in your browser without an installation. Playing requires JavaScript and a browser that supports Web Audio.
Start with a song you know
Recognizing the rhythm helps you focus on the controls. Then try another difficulty and compare the painting from each run.
